The Spring Festival, also known as Chinese New Year, is the most significant and festive time of the year in Chinese culture. It is a time for family reunions, joyful celebrations, and rich traditions.

To celebrate the CNY Holiday of 2024, our IVY members cleaned the office and adorned it with red lanterns and couplets before the holiday. Red is believed to ward off evil spirits and bring happiness and prosperity. Upon returning from the holiday, our members received red envelopes, known as "hongbao" in Mandarin, symbolizing good luck and blessings for the new year.

On the fifteenth day of the lunar new year, known as the Lantern Festival and marking the end of Spring Festival, individuals congregate to partake in festivities featuring vibrant lantern displays, as well as dragon and lion dances.

Eating yuanxiao, or sweet rice dumplings, is an integral part of the Lantern Festival celebrations. These spherical dumplings, made of glutinous rice flour with various sweet fillings, symbolize familial unity and harmony. Families gather to indulge in yuanxiao and exchange blessings for the upcoming year.

In conclusion, the Spring Festival is a time-honored tradition filled with joy, hope, and cultural significance. It unites families and communities to celebrate the new year with love, prosperity, and happiness.
